Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Ontario Downsizing ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through ontariodownsizing.com (the "Site"). We handle it in line with the fair information principles in Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you email us we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you write.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider processes standard server data such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and secure the Site.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your message, and to pass it to an agent at eXp Realty so they can answer your question.
- To follow up on your message by email.
- To prevent spam and abuse and operate the Site.
We collect only what you choose to send us. If we want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask you first.
Consent and how to withdraw it
We rely on your consent, which you give by emailing us. Reading the Site never requires it. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or emailing info@ontariodownsizing.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect messages already sent.
Commercial electronic messages
Under Canada's anti-spam law (CASL), we and the agents on our team send you commercial email only with your consent. Every such message identifies the sender and includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
We share your message with the agents and brokerage at eXp Realty so they can reply. The agent who replies keeps their own records and is responsible for how they use them.
We also use service providers that process information on our behalf, such as website hosting and email systems. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Hosting, Cloudflare and processing outside Canada
The Site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare operates a global network, so your information may be processed or stored outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is in another country, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and other authorities there under that country's laws. We require service providers to protect your information to a comparable standard by contract.
Cookies
The Site does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Retention and safeguards
We keep messages only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal and record-keeping obligations, then delete or anonymize them. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online transmission is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
Your rights and how to reach us
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it or ask us to stop contacting you by emailing info@ontariodownsizing.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
The Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
